We completed a server-wide performance improvement on ns1.hostify.net.za today that makes every WordPress site on the server noticeably faster.
What Changed
We identified and resolved a PHP caching configuration issue that had been affecting all shared hosting accounts on ns1. In short: the server was doing unnecessary work on every page load, and it's not doing that anymore.
The Numbers
On a typical WordPress site with a full plugin stack, page load time dropped from ~1.7 seconds to ~0.47 seconds — roughly 3.6x faster. The improvement applies across every WordPress installation on ns1, from small brochure sites to heavier e-commerce and community platforms.
What You Need to Do
Nothing. This was a server-level configuration change — all sites benefit automatically. No plugins to install, no settings to change, no updates to run.
If your site felt sluggish before, you should notice the difference immediately. Pages will load faster for both you and your visitors.
What's Next
We're reviewing our other servers to ensure they have the same optimisation in place. We'll also be adding monitoring to catch configuration gaps like this before they affect performance.
